This facility has an RIO certificate, meaning it is supported by several french research agencies and funded by the Genopole and Canceropole programmes and that it complies with established criteria. In effect, these national programmes have been entrusted with the mission of setting up and running a network of research laboratories and platforms on genomics, post-genomics and related sciences. Uniquely it unites, on a single site, public and private research laboratories.
The goal of the platform is to be able to modify the mouse genome either constitutively or under various conditions in order to study the physiological function of a given gene. It is composed of a central facility with an EOPS status surrounded by dedicated modules.
These include :
1) KO/KI module and cryogeny
2) Decontamination module
3) Equipment for behavioral studies exploring sensory and motoric functions, surgery rooms including equipment for microsurgery and stereotaxy
4) High throughput screening of phenotypic anomalies of the immune system
The major challenge facing the platform is to keep it internationally competitive. This means a permanent effort by the Direction in the search of financial resources and allocation of staff.
